We Install

If you live within a close enough distance to us or one of our SkyShed Authorized Dealer/Installers, we can erect an observatory for you on your site. The installation will take two trips to your location, one visit to install the pier footing and a second visit to erect the observatory. At the end of the second visit your observatory will be ready stargazing.	If you live in the Southern Ontario we can install on site.
	You can choose from a variety observatory sizes and colour combinations for the building and the roof. We recommend a light coloured roof for heat reduction. In order to work well on your site we can install the roof to roll off - left or right. Our observatories are constructed from high quality, long lasting pine wood with a light weight galvanized steel roof.

Standard Sizes, Colours and Prices

Choose a size

Even the smallest SkyShed will house a huge telescope if real estate is at a premium and you don't have room for a larger footprint. It depends on whether you are doing visual or remote viewing. In the case of remote, if no one is going to be in the observatory when the telescope is operating, then you can afford to have a much larger telescope in the ob since you're not going to be taking up room at the same time. You can even have a huge scope and yourself in there at the same time if you don't mind ducking every now and then!

The sizes below are based on numbers of observers and size of scope

6'	Suitable for 1 person or remote operation and an SCT scope up to 16" (or equivalent).
8'	Suitable for 1 or 2 people and an SCT scope up to 16" (or equivalent).
10'	Suitable for 2 or 3 people with a few added guests and an SCT scope up to 16" (or equivalent) plus room for desk and shelves.
12'	Suitable for 2 or 3 people with a few added guests and an SCT scope up to 16" (or equivalent) plus room for desk and shelves.
14'	* For this size a building permit may be required Suitable for 1 or 2 telescopes (up to 2 piers). In the case of 1 telescope there is plenty of room for shelves desk a gear storage. Also suitable for large SCT or Dobsonian telescope. If you are interested in this size, you may want to consider a "warm room" addition.
16'	* For this size a building permit may be required Suitable for 1 or 2 telescopes (up to 2 piers). In the case of 1 telescope there is plenty of room for shelves desk a gear storage. Also suitable for large SCT or Dobsonian telescope. If you are interested in this size, you may want to consider a "warm room" addition.
Custom Size	We can work with you to determine a custom size to match your needs and budget.

Due to Ontario "snow load" building codes most municipalities limit non-permit structures to 120 square feet
(i.e. 10' X 12').

Check with your municipality or community association to make sure the observatory will fit within local restrictions. If you desire a larger observatory we will work with you to erect a custom sized structure.

* Assuming the installation area is relatively level
* A matched pier for your telescope must be added to these prices (or you supply pier)
* Price includes observatory installation. Minimum $250.00 extra for Pier Footing Installation, or save money and install the footing yourself.
* Six foot widths can be built with no windows or an offset door and one window.
* If you live outside a 200K radius of Toronto call us for travel pricing to your site.
* You may choose glass windows or "faux" nailed on window "look-a-likes" for increased security.
* Custom structure colours or roof colours may be an additional charge.
* Payment terms are 20% in advance and the balance upon completion of the observatory. We accept Cash, Certified Cheque, Money Order or Visa.

* If your telescope or equatorial mount is a non standard type we will need a template of the bottom to create a matching adapter for the pier.

* It is important to determine the correct adapter plate to match the bottom of your telescope or equatorial mount to the top of the pier. We will determine the adapter type when we speak to you.

* Non Standard Pier adapter plates and piers longer than 42" will require an additional nominal charge, i.e. Astro Physics type adapters require an additional "collar" welded to the adapter plate - Additional cost - $50.00.
